Trust lean, pendulum, levitation etc...
Considering our values that we developed earlier in the year, how did these activities promote what we wanted our class to be about and what are some of the things that we still need to work on? The catagories where Trust, Respect, and Open Mind. To get the words that we used for each of the catagories refer to the blog on september 18th.

I think open mind was the biggest thing here even though it was a trust activity. some people in my group were not ready to go today and they remebered to keep and open mind and ended up going. Respect came into play when we had to respect people's fears and concerns when being lifted and not just brushing them off. Trusting people to catch you and keep you safe was the basis for the activity.

i think beth totaly got it, we respected peoples fears and most kept an open mind and did try the levitation activity

I was scared to go at first, but I trusted the people in my group and it was fun once I did it. I think it's important that we respect eachother's abilities instead of getting annoyed with them. I agree that open mind was a key thing today because if we don't take these activities seriously, now it can become dangerous.

I think trust and open mind were a huge part of these activities. I think everyone was a little hesistant at first because it's the first time we're really had to trust specific people in our class. I think all of us did really well with learning to trust one another more and as the class moves forward the less and less people there are that complain about the activity. I think we are all getting to know each other better and respect each other more. Our class has improved a ton since the beginning of the yea but I think all of us need to work on trusting and respecting another, and also keeping an open mind.

Trust and an open mid definitely play key roles when it comes to activities like the one we did on Friday. I think this activity helped break down any reluctancy we had with trusing each other and keeping our minds open. Personally, it took me a while before I could actually do the activity, but once I did it felt as if it was no big deal.

Open mind play a big role in these activities because these aren't things people do in every day life so when people come to them they may not want to do it but thats where the open mind comes in, but to be able to have an open mind you have to trust the people you are doing the activity with because that'll make it a whole lot easier. So in the end these things are really ties together. These activities are bringing these things out of us all at some point.

Keeping an open mind was the key to accomplishing this activity. In our group, there were some people, including myself who were initially scared, but eventually trusted everyone. I agree that as the year goes on there will be many activities that we will not want to do, but in order to get through them we must keep a positive attitude, and have full trust in the people whom we're working with.

In these activities, we had to excersizzze all these 3 catagories. we had to keep an open mind- making sure we all were able to do the activity and try new things that may not be so appealing. We had to trust... kinda the point of the entire activity, and respect eachother's abilities to stay stiff and not be aftraid. Although much was accomplished, we, as a class, need to work on really trusting one another before we get to the end of the year...

All three of the categories were used during those activities. Most obviously, we ahd to trust the people in our groups to not drop us, and the the people hold you up had to trust you to be straight. Then we had to have an open mind about the activities and try it even if we were uncomfortable. Then we had to respect the other people in our group when they didn't feel comfortable. I think these activities helped the class, we still need to work on trusting.

In the levitation activity we had to trust our class mates to not let us fall and we had to have an open mind about doing this activity because we are lifted high off the ground. the trust applies to all the acivites we did in class on tuesday and friday because we have to trust our class mates to not drop us and open miand to do the activities because they are a little scary at first. i think our class could still acheive some respect because we still sometimes talk while others are talking- we need to listen to each other more.

We are doing well in the open mind category because people are starting to face their fears. Also, when there was someone who was a little hesitant about doing the trust falls, we were very patient and understanding about it. I think we're excelling at team work because all of us have to work well together in order to do the exercise. Communication, I feel, is still lacking in some groups though. I feel like not everyone is taking the "Spotters, are you ready" and "Yes, I'm ready" parts seriously.

Having an open mind is definitely something we need to work on. If one person in a group doesn't have an open mind about an activity, it can ruin it for everyone. If you're willing to try something, and put all of your effort into it, it makes it a lot easier to trust you. I think that's one of the reason's I was so hesitant to do the activity at first.

This activity really tested peoples trust in eachother. Personally, I was really scared to do this activity, but with the support of my group I was able to participate. They all showed a great amount of respect for my fears while they supported me. Everyone in my group was able to go and I was very proud of everybody.

I think our class has improved the most in the trust area because everyone seems to be willing to take more risks because of all the encouragement we get from our classmates. For example, the activity we did on Friday really tested our trust. Since the groups were so supportive, everyone in the class participated.

We have to trust each other so we know that we will be there for each other. If you don't have an open mind then you probably won't be able to do the activity. We need to respect each other so we can work together to get the activity done.
ReplyDeleteKristin Prislinger
I think our class has improved on trusting each other. If we do not trust each other, then how can we do the activity as a team? We also respected each other for having new ideas and that kind of goes for being open minded as well.
ReplyDeleteCassie
I think we really had to trust people, it wasn't just us being "blind", now, they were lifting us up high and we were risking danger. You had to keep an open mind because obviously you wouldn't know what was really coming, especially when it's different for everyone. But I'm glad everyone in my group did it and I was really proud of everyone :)

I believe that this really reinforeced the trust that we have been working to build. Also I've never been able to do trust falls before so I know personally I grew a lot from this activity. I'm really proud of everyone who was able to get over their fears and do it as well! To anyone who didn't I hope they can participate in the next ones :]

I think the activities that we are doing are helping us to trust each other more and more. Each day, I am becoming more open minded and I don't mind doing scary things anymore because I know I can trust the people who are helping me.
ReplyDeleteThe activities forced us to trust each other and go out of our comfort zones a little bit. We had to trust a group of people to lift us up and be confident that they wouldn't drop us. I know it was scary for a lot of people but we all encouraged them and promised to catch them. I really liked that we were so proud of each other when we accomplished something, and only positive comments were made. We're really starting to respect, trust and open up to each other.

Although I was really afraid of falling and/or being dropped I went and had a great time during all of the activities. I think that this was slightly less effective on pushing my boundaries because I was friends with all the people in my group and trusted all of them. I am really nervous about doing actuall trust falls with people I have never worked with before. But it should be fun.
ReplyDeleteZoi
trust and open mind were really important because if people werent willing to trust others this activity didnt work. thats why they had to keep an open mind and try to trust others. even though this is hard for some poeple, i was really happy to see people starting to trust eachother more and more.
ReplyDeletegrieta
I think the class needs to trust eachother more as a whole and I know I need to have more of an open mind about everything we do
ReplyDeleteBecca
All of the activities we did required trust, respect, and an open mind to be successful, so it gave us some practice. We still need to work on trusting each other a little more but I think we've done really well so far.
ReplyDeleteKelsey Onesto
We're starting to trust the entire class. It would've been easier if people were a little more open-minded about the activities, but people respected the others fears and helped, not forced, them into doing the activities.
ReplyDeleteAnna
We definetly used trust in the trust falls. I feel that everyone has been good about being more open minded. I know for myself the first day of school I wasn't open minded and you yelled at me, and I'm glad you did. Now I look at everything being an adventure and to go into it with an open mind. I feel that we have all been respectful with the team building activities. We just encourage eachother and give tips to those that have a hard time with the activity. Kayla Aeschliman
