Trust Fall!!

Tell us about your experience with the trust fall this week. Both as a catcher and a faller. Are we ready to move on to rappelling?

  1. I was surprised I was able to do the trust fall without getting psyched out. Once I went, I was really happy though. Catching was easy, especially with everyone paying attention everytime. I think a majority of the group is ready for rappelling, but there are a few that might not be mentally ready.

  2. The trust fall was pretty intimidating, but of course it wasn't that bad once I did it. Overall, I think we're ready to move on to rapelling.

  3. For me it was a lot easier to catch people than to be the one that was falling. It's not that i dont trust the people that are going to catch me, it just a scary thought at first. From the moment we started doing them i was so set on that i wasn't going to even try, but once H made me get up there i didn't even waste any time, i just did it. and i'm really happy i did. I think our class is for sure ready to move on to rapelling.

  4. the trust fall looked so scary. i waited until the very last minute to go. once it was over, i was happy i did but still had a quivering feeling in my stomach. i trust our classmates but i think a lot of it is being able to trust yourself. i was afraid i wasnt going to be able to keep myself straight but i did better than i though. im excited for rapelling!

  7. As a faller it was really intimidating to get the courage to go up there. But once I was up there I just fell. I didn't linger because I knew I'd psych myself out, and once I fell it was awesome. As a catcher I knew we wouldn't let anyone fall it was just a matter of making them believe we wouldn't. I think we're ready to move onto reppelling, this exercise really brought our class closer together.

  8. the falling was much harder than catching. it really makes you realize how much you trust others and yourself (to fall correctly). Catching was easy, since we all worked as a team. Can't wait for rappelling!

  9. I thought it was really fun and exhilerating at the same time. Once I was up on the block though it seemed a lot scarier. I was really proud of all the people that were scared but did it anyway. Yay to them!

  12. falling was a little scary but once i had done it,falling wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, it was actually fun. being a catcher was easier because i was confident that i could catch the person and not let them fall. i think we are ready to move on to repelling because we were able to catch everyone in the trust falls.

  13. I really enjoyed this activity because it's one thing to catch the person falling, but it's another to actually be the faller. Both are such different feelings and each requires a great amount of trust and strength in yourself and your friends. I think rapelling will be so much fun and I know our class will accomplish this too!

  14. i didn't have a problem with going, but at the last moment i bent a little. this was disappointing. but i think overall our class did a really good job. even though people were scared to go they did a really good job of staying strait. making it easier for people to catch them. i feel like we are ready to repell

  15. I think as a class we succeeded with the trust falls. We were very good about encouraged and comforting those about to fall and making them feel as safe as possible. Individually, I'm proud of myself for being able to do the fall. I definitely think were ready to repell

  16. I think that some of us are ready and some may not be. Falling I felt safe and I was fine with catching (got cho back H!!) but I don't feel completely comfortable with everyone in the class yet. I do think that if we were to start repelling we wouldn't have many problems though. I'm really proud of the people who were apprehensive about falling but did it anyway I think it shows how much we've grown as a class :]

  18. Falling is always going to be a little bit scary, but the people in my group made it really easy to trust them. At first I was so scared since I'm afraid of heights, but after I did it, I realized that it was actually pretty exhilerating. I'm pretty sure that most of us will be ready to repel, although I can't say I trust every single person in our class as much as I do others.

  19. i didn't think it was going to be that scary, when I saw the other class doing it i thought it looked like fun. But once I got up there on the mat it was a lot higher than I expected, and I was really nervous. But I tried not to psych myself out and just did it, and it was fine. I was a little shaky afterward, but it was definitely worth it. I really trust my group and think this helped the class.

  20. I was super proud of myself and all my classmates for doing the trust falls. I know that there were a lot of people who were really nervous about it and I think we are ready to get to some scarier stuff as long as we remember that the number of people who are scared is just going to get larger as we move on to bigger heights. As long as we keep encouraging each othe like we have we should be able to get through this together.

  21. I was terrified when I was about to fall. When I was told to stay tight multiple times, I was more afraid that if I did so, I would arch and possibly hit my head hard. I felt much better the fourth time that I went. I certainly felt a sense of accomplishment, and was very thankful to the people who caught me. When I was catching others, I took everyone's fears into consideration. I realized the importance of staying close together, in order to support the entire weight of the person falling.

  22. I felt a sense of accomplishment, after I went the fourth time. I was very terrified when I was about to fall. When told multiple times to stay tight, I thought that doing so would make me arch over and possibly have a harder head impact. I am very thankful to my classmates who understood my fear, and caught me. When catching others, I realized how important it was to stay tight and that going through the activity faster was a lot easier on the person mentally. Hesitating to fall, simply psyched me out, but when I actually fell the height did not seem so bad.

  23. Sorry H,

the first time I responded to the blog, it did not show up. I thought that it would not post, and I re-wrote another one.

    Ooops!

  24. I felt scared when I was falling, but catching wasn't a big deal. For catching, you just need to let the person know that you are ready and no matter what, you will catch them and they can trust you. However, i still need to get used to the falling part:)

  26. The trust falls were easy and pretty fun. It's not that scary because I know there's like 8 people to catch me.

  27. It was fun but a little nerve wrecking at first. But after seeing that nobody was dropped, I figured I wouldn't be either.

  28. When I was falling, it was pretty easy for me to trust because there was a guy in my group but when I was catching people, I was afraid because I'm kind of weak and I kept letting them fall. :P

  29. I was terrified to trust fall. Once I saw other people with the same weight as me, I felt a lot more comfortable that they would be able to catch me. Kayla Aeschliman
