What happens now?

I apologize for how class ended on Thursday, I could not let it continue in the direction that it was going. From your point of view, how can we use this situation to help us create the enviroment we want in Outdoor Adventure?

  1. Before thursday, i dont think anyone really knew what would happen after acting poorly. Now that we do, things will probably change. the class will be motivated even more to respect, trust, and be resposible. it was a hard lesson learned

  3. i think everyone realized how important it is to remember that your actions can have an affect on the rest of the class and whether they will be able to trust you or not.

  4. I think this situation will help support a policy of actively and appropriately participating. I think now its been established that goofing off at the expense of others insn't quite tolerable.

  5. I think we could use this situation to help us by knowing who we can trust. Also to help people we dont think we can trust yet, so when it comes time to trust them, we can because they have learned from their mistakes.

  6. I find the situation that happened on Thursday as kind of a wake-up call. I think the whole class now knows how serious this class needs to be taken. We need to learn how to be responsible for our actions and understand how much effort we need to put into this course.

  7. I agree with several people above me. I think the situation was slightly awkward, but it had a good 'lesson' behind it. Even though we're not doing big things just yet, it's important to build up our respect, trust and responsibility in every little way possible.

  8. A lot of people have said many things that I agree with. The situation really kind of woke people up about the consequences that could happen if we don't act as expected. I think you give us a lot of lean way to have fun and make the class a good time, but there also is a line that we shouldn't cross. I also think what happened will open our eyes to who we will really trust in the end. It all really does tie back up with the respect, trust, and responsibility aspects of the class.

  9. I think everyone realized that in this type of class you can't just be thinking about yourself. Your actions can have an affect on the class as a whole. If one person can't be trusted, it kind of throws off plans for the rest of the class.

  10. Like Kelsey said, one person that can't be trusted effects the whole class. So I think its important that we all show with our actions and attitude that we are trustworthy. If we can't trust eachother, nothing can happen in this class.

  11. I agree with everyone that we have to be able to trust eachother. If we can't trust eachother, then we'll be scared to branch out and try new things. I think for the most part, we're all pretty supportive of eachother and accepting. We just have to realize it isn't all about us anymore, it's about everyone and the class as a whole.

  12. I honestly don't think I could have said it any better than what everyone else has said. People just have to own up to their responsibilities in this class. I like what Tiffani said that is isn't about us anymore, it is about everyone and the class as a whole.

  14. we relized that we need to work together as a class to move foward and our actions have consequenses and effect other people. our actions show if we can trust or respect each other, so i think we all learned this on thursday.

  15. I think the situation did make us aware that there will be consequences even in a class that is supposed to be all for fun. To have fun, we must continue to show values and principles.

  16. I think that in that moment people woke up and figured out that this isn't just a blow off class. We have goals in mind and we need to work hard toward them.

  17. I think that a lot of the class doesn't take the team building activities seriously because that's all they've heard about the class. I know that from all my friends that took it last year. Everyone talked about how easy it was, how much of a blow off it was, etc. I think/hope after Thursday everyone realizes that these "easy" and "pointless" activities are actually important. We do need to trust each other and these are the stepping stones to do so. I do believe though that people will start to take this class more seriously when the activities get harder, like everything we do with climbing.

  18. I don't think people will talk as much when they're not supposed to with seeing how angry you get. I think it's important though that you got angry because it will make people more serious. I know I can't trust someone when it comes to climbing if they can't even do a simple task without goofing off.

  19. I think that Thursday, was a real wake up call for all of us. It showed us that responsibility is a real big factor in this class, and we cannot simply tune out and ignore important instructions. I feel that after this incident, people are definitely going to take such activities more seriously.

  20. This demonstrated to the class what happens when we don't have that trust that we've been striving for.It really opened our eyes to how much we still need to grow as a class before we can achieve our goals.

  21. I think that things have been building up for a while now and thursday was just the climax of it all. Hopefully, people can see it as an opportunity to change their thought process so that our class can progress. We all need to take responsibility for what happened and do everything in our power to make sure we don't make the same mistakes.

  22. I think we are starting to see the bigger picture in that we really can't move on as a class until everyone is working together. Also I feel that a lot of us realized how these little activities and our feelings during them will play out later this year.

I hope we can use this to better ourselves and think twice about respect. Hopefully we wont lose faith in our class mates.

  24. People need to relax.. and not get so upset about things. Everyone makes mistakes and that is how we learn from them.

  25. By learning from this, I think our class has become stronger in realizing why it is important to follow directions. I think we are all aware of the impact one person can make.
