Rappelling Goals

Let us know what your goals for this final week of rappelling are? How many times you will rappel, how many times you will belay, as a group how many rappels a day are you going to try to do? Different styles of rappelling what will you do, upside down and recover, go all the way down upside down, jumping off the wall under control, going face forward? Last 3 days, have fun.

  1. I want to rappel at least four more times, belay at least six, and I want to try going upside down, jumping, and going face first since I haven't rapelled like that yet. It's going to be really scary, especially going face first, but hopefully I'll be able to do it. I think our group should be able to pull off at least 4 to 6 rappels a day since we're getting faster and faster at setting up.

  2. I want to rappel at least four times and be able to set up by myself. I really want to do the jumping off the wall thing. It seems like a lot of fun.

  3. I want to rappel three times. I don't really know what types to try this week. If I can, I would try all of them.

  5. I plan on rapelling more, since I haven't done it as much as other people in my group have. But I don't think I'll try jumping out while rapelling again; slamming my face into the wall and just hanging there in front of my group and the other girls gym class wasn't a particularly enjotable experience.

  6. I want to rappel 4 times, and belay 5 or 6. I've already tried all the different ways of going down :) so I think I'll go upside down a few times. That was the most fun. As a group I think we can probably get about 5 rappels a day if we focus and don't waste time.

  9. I honestly really want to try all the different ways of rapelling. they sound scary and challenging but worth it. I hope all of us go at least 5 times but I don't know if we'll have enough time! hopefully we're all getting used to it so more people can go per day.

  13. My goal is just to go rappel down normally without being scared. I feel like I'm really bad at belaying, but I'm gonna try to do it a lot, so that I'm more comfortable doing it. I wish I was a crazy person and could do all kinds of crazy things, but too bad I'm not a crazy person. I'm scared going down NORMALLY as of now, so.. we'll see how it goes. :)

  15. I want to rappel everyday this week. I'd love to try all of the different kinds of rappeling, but I'm still not used to doing it the regular way. It still takes me a bit to let go of the rail.

  16. I hope to rappel as much as possible so that i will gain more confidence in it, so hopefully rappel everyday. Also, belay everyday to make sure I gain experience in that too, so that my group knows they can trust me. Even though i'm terrified to go face first, i know i will regret it if i don't try it.

  17. I really just want to go down face forward. But I have kinda been procrastinating so... And I could carless how many times I belay. I really hate belaying I would much rather be a system checker or a fireman. And as for how many times my group will go I'm not really sure. As long as we keep improving and getting more and more efficient I'm happy!

  20. My goal is to rappel at least four more times. I still haven't gone upside down or face first. Both of these really scare me. But I know I'll have to do it at some pt. I feel that our group has done a pretty good job of setting up and supporting the people who are rappeling.
Hopefully, I'll try to go upside down today.

  21. I want to rappel at least three more times. I know that other people in my group havent as many times yet, so I want them to have a chance. I've already gone upside down and face first so i just want to try jumping. I also want to get more comfortable goind down the wall, and i can only do that by practicing.

  23. Yesterday I finally went upside down and I was so nervous but once I did it I was excited to have done it. The only thing I haven't done is go facing forward, which I'm nervous about, but I kind of want to do it before we are done with repelling.

  25. I repelled 3 times.. I feel that it is important for everyone in the group to get a chance to repel, so if it means me not being able to go as much I'm fine with that.. I ended up going upside down!! I also did the little hops going down the wall! =] Kayla Aeschliman
