exercise plan!

What is your commitment to your fitness over the Holiday break? My commitment is to walk/jog mon, wed, fri, for 30 minutes both weeks. I will also do strength exercises 4 times during break and yoga for 30 minutes at least twice during break. Don't be like the average american, challenge yourself over the next two weeks. If you make the commitment you will do it. Have a great Holiday Season. Check in to the Blog to see everyones fitness commitments.

  1. I plan on doing quite a bit of exercise over break. I've currently been working out with a combination of aerobic and muscle exercises. Here's how it goes, in case any of you guys want to try it: I spend a few hours playing an Xbox game that requires some strenuous thumb and finger movements, usually Modern Warfare 2 or Madden NFL 2010. This will condition your finger muscles and improve your reaction time. In time, your thumbs alone should be at least 5 times faster and stronger. In between online matches, I sometimes run across the house at a quick but steady pace to go to the bathroom or grab a cookie. I've been doing this for a while, so I can usually make a run in about 30 seconds or so without getting too winded. This covers the aerobic portion of the exercise. Another technique you can try is "raging." This is an unnecessary but frequently utilized technique. When you're having a bad match (some noob keeps spawn-killing you or you keep pressing the wrong button and throwing interceptions, for ex.), you can scream and swear, stretching and strengthening your lungs and vocal chords in the process. You can also hit stuff like the wall or throw random objects, thus toning your arm muscles such as your biceps and triceps. You'll probably also work up a sweat. I know I do. This is a pretty good way to stay somewhat in-shape, so I recommend it to anyone if they'd maybe like to give it a try. It's been working for me so far. Have a good winter break, everyone.

  6. Well, my dad got me an ab-wheel for christmas. I've never heard of it before, but it's pretty fun to work with. So, I'll be doing that, and chasing my little brother around in the snow.

  7. When I went on vacation, I took some pretty strenuous walks while site-seeing. Hopefully that counts. I'm also going to start taking my regular dance lessons since I took a break for a while.

  10. i played wii fit too! and it was too cold to walk outside so i went to the ymca a few times to run on the treadmill. :)

kinda off topic.. but while i was running on the treadmill my iPod fell off inbetween the band that you run on and the actual machine. It slid all the way under the machine until it jammed it and it stopped... my iPod was broken in half, bent badly, and cracked like you wouldnt even believe. once they got my iPod out of the treadmill i didn't stick around to see if the machine was broken or not :)

this is what i get for trying to be a good person and workout over break H. :)

  12. I made a new years resolution to work out more and eat healthier, but unfortunately that didn't start until after new years, obviously. So i didnt really work out much over break, but plan to start now. My plan is to work out at least 3times a week on my own. hopefully i'll keep it up.

  13. My new year's resolution is also to start working out more and eating healthier. Over break I haven't really done any strenuous work outs, but I did go out for walks every day. I find this very relaxing and at the same time satisfying. My goal for this year is to tone my triceps and improve my running time. Hopefully this year I will be more committed to staying fit.

  17. I ran on the treadmill at least 5 days each week as well as rode an exercise bike. Since i can't use my right hand for exercise i had to do a lot of ab conditioning and leg conditioning as well as practicing back tucks into a giant foam pit at a gym for an hour.

  18. I'm active in cheerleading, and i went to the gym a few times running on the elipticals. I also am a snowboarder so I get a pretty good workout from that as well.

  19. During break I got a membership to the ymca. I went on the treadmill, eliptical, and did some weight lifting. I also went snowboarding twice during break which was sooo tiring! Kayla Aeschliman
